what is happening to the earth?

Intro

Earth is under brutal destruction due to the ignorance and intensities humans have brought upon it. Nature, animals, and humans are all experiencing deadly suffering that is only worsening. Species are disappearing. Animals are dying. Plants are being cut down. Yet most still fail to believe and do their part to help save Earth.

why does this matter?

A skinny polar bear mother desperately swims for months in search of food for her cubs, who, in their weakness, ride on her back. She swims for long days and her hunger grows. The ice has been thinned out due to global warming and resting is not an option. Eventually, her cubs and her, herself, soon die due to starvation and fragility.

This particular event is extremely common for polar bears as it is happening more and more. In fact, 40% of polar bears have already died in this way. You might think that if you had the chance to help these innocent polar bears, then you would. But, if you aren’t trying to help save the environment, in actions big or small, then you are the reason of the death of countless animals, humans, and plant species, including polar bears.

Due to climate change, many animals are forced to death due to starvation and lack of natural resources that humans have selfishly stolen from them.

Humans have greatly abused the privilege of natural resources. We have used them wastefully and without limit. Trees have been recklessly demolished selfishly for our own luxury at the cost of lives. Deforestation is threatening nature and is slowly but surely erasing life on this planet.

Though it seems easy to ignore, now is the only time we can make the decision to either fix our mistakes or live in regret until we face the brutal effects of climate change. Places such as Chad, Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan, and Nigeria are already experiencing severe weather conditions and loss of plant or animal species.

Countless lives of humans, plants, and animals are all at stake. If we do not come together as one to fight the conditions of climate change, we will all suffer in the future.

We have already experienced the disappearance of many species such as the Black Softshell Turtle, Père David's Deer, Hawaiian Crow, Franklin Tree, Wyoming Toad, Bramble Cay melomys, and golden toad. In addition, there are many species that are at the brink of extinction. Those include leapords, gorillas, polar bears, turtles, dolphins, rhinos, pandas, monkeys, elephants, penguins, and many different kinds of fish.

This planet is ours. It is only up to us to fix it. If you are in a state where you are able to fix it, you should without doubt, try to save the future of countless kids, species, humans, and plants. Every single small contribution is offered the chance to make a difference.

the causes

The cause of the destruction and damage of our Earth are humans. We are the only reason that future life is slowly fading and existing species are dying. Mankind has made certain decisions that causes life to suffer.

The creation of greenhouse gases is one cause of climate change and global warming. By burning fossil fuels to manufacture goods or for energy, greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide are produced and released into the atmosphere. Gases in the troposphere layer in the Earth’s atmosphere absorb greenhouse gases and trap extra heat that is given from the sun. This warms our Earth more than before, and the addition of more greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels makes the Earth even hotter. This idea is called the greenhouse effect.

Deforestation is another cause of climate change and global warming. Large areas of tropical forests are burned for oil palm plantations. This releases more greenhouse gases and gets rid of exotic plants. Oil palm trees are needed for almost every single product that humans buy, use, and create in typical everyday life. Since oil palms are used so often, other kinds of trees are destroyed for their production. Eventually, the land cleared for oil palm plantations loses its quality because of the large amount of pesticides and fertilizers used on oil palm trees to ensure that they are healthy and grow quickly to meet the needs of people.

The land burned is eventually abandoned and never used again. Every day, land is destroyed, used, and then forgotten. The amount of healthy land we have everyday decreases because of this unfortunate cycle. Every year, 15.6 billion trees are chopped down. We have lost almost half of the amount of trees that we had before deforestation.

Trees are desperately needed because they hold the ability to absorb greenhouse gases and lessen the impact that they put upon us. Trees turn greenhouse gases into fresh air that we breathe everyday. Trees are an important resource to both humans and animals.

Nature can repair itself, only if we stop recklessly chopping down trees and wasting natural resources and let it before the damage is too much.

the effects

The production of greenhouse gases and deforestation both are strong factors to climate change. Although the causes of climate change seem bad, the effects are even more heart-breaking.

One well-known effect of climate change is the killing of species. Predators especially, such as tigers, snow leopards, monarch butterflies, green sea turtles, and giant pandas are all animals that are continuously killed by climate change. Predators wander around for days in drought, in search of water or food. But due to the warming of the Earth, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, and flooding are brought to dangerous levels. Predators die from thirst and starvation due to climate change.

Another way the way human’s actively waste of resources affects animal species is because of habitat loss. Animals such as Black Spider Monkeys, Saolas, Darwin’s Fox, Pygmy Raccoons, and Borneo Pygmy Elephants are all at the brink of extinction or extinct because of habitat loss thanks to deforestation.

Another effect of climate change is the loss of land. Due to the warming of the Earth, ice glaciers melt. This is the reason why polar bears, penguins, reindeer, walruses, snowy owls, and arctic foxes are forced to swim to their death because there are no ice glaciers to live on. The melting of ice glaciers causes water levels to rise. This causes countries like Kiribati, the Maldives, Samoa, Nauru, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Tuvalu to sink and its land to disappear slowly.

Climate change is not only threatening the lives of animals, but also threatening the lives of humans. Since humans are wasting natural resources, weather conditions are becoming harsher. For example, in certain areas such as the Middle East and North Africa regions are experiencing scarce water. Tornadoes, flooding, and hurricanes have destroyed homes and families. They have taken the lives of innocent people and the lives of innocent animals. Their damage has cost billions of dollars to poor communities.

Extreme heat makes places more vulnerable for wildfires. Wildfires spread faster and are more dangerous threats now. Many homes and communities are easily destroyed due to this. Extreme heat makes it harder to perform outdoor labor. It also creates an uncomfortable living environment for many different species.

Climate change does not only affect plants and animals. It affects humans, too. It erases and kills species. We must stop wasting natural resources and come together to try and save it.

want to help?

Our Earth is growing more and more unnatural because of climate change. Species are dying. Underwater life is slowly disappearing. Harsh weather conditions are becoming more dangerous and more common. Climate change is killing our Earth and everyone living in it. We are to blame, and we should try to fix our mistakes.
